Accessing Massage Therapy through the VA

Many veterans may not be aware that massage therapy is a covered benefit through the VA healthcare system. Just like any other medical service, eligible veterans can receive massage therapy as part of their VA healthcare benefits. To access these services, veterans need to be
enrolled in the VA healthcare system and obtain a referral from their primary care provider. The VA recognizes the importance of integrative healthcare and offers massage therapy, to address the needs of veterans.

Massage therapy is a therapeutic approach to enhancing both physical and mental health. Beyond the physical benefits, massage therapy has been shown to decrease symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), making it particularly valuable for veterans dealing with the mental and emotional toll of their service.
